San Marco Neighborhood
San Marco is known as the fashionable and upscale district of Jacksonville. It was designed in the Italian Renaissance revival style, which is reflected in the style of its buildings and parks. If you’ve been to Venice, you might recognize that “San Marco Square” in Jacksonville is surprisingly similar in its Mediterranean buildings and fountain. In San Marco, you can enjoy upscale dining options, trendy clothing boutiques, and fascinating art galleries. Also, head to the Riverfront Park for sweeping city views and gorgeous sunsets.
The Florida Theatre
The Florida Theatre was built in the 1920s and is one of the few Movie Palaces still remaining in Florida. It hosts over 200 annual events, including rock concerts, ballet performances, and other shows. Check out the event calendar of the Florida Theatre before your visit. This is a cultural hotspot in the middle of downtown Jacksonville.
Riverside/Avondale District
Riverside/Avondale is named amongst the Top 10 Great Neighborhoods in the US. This eclectic district is also listed in the National Registry of Historic Places. Here you find all sorts of hip boutiques, funky coffee shops, antique thrift stores, and great local dining. Enjoy a stroll down the oak-lined streets and admire the beautiful historic homes along the way.
Kraken CycleBoats
A super fun way to experience the wildlife and architecture of Jacksonville is from the perspective of a Kraken CycleBoat. This adventure lets you paddle your way along the river while sipping on your drink of choice. It’s not hard to paddle a Kraken CycleBoat because there are no hills on the Florida waterways. They also have a motor just in case your pedaling turns into dancing by the end of the cruise!

Hang Gliding Adventure
One of the best things to do in Jacksonville is to experience the city from 2,000 feet in the air. Hang gliding takes you soaring over the stunning scenery and gives you a brand new appreciation for the beauty of Jacksonville. You’ll get to fly over Jacksonville Beach, the Amelia Island Lighthouse, and even the original home of Pippi Longstocking. Check out Florida Adventure Sports for an unforgettable and amazing experience. Their pilot is FAA certified and has over 30 years of experience, so you can trust you will be in good hands.
Jacksonville Beach
Enjoy the sand and the waves at Florida’s “First Coast.” Jacksonville Beach has miles of gorgeous coastline and so much to offer. Surfers will enjoy the best waves in the region, wildlife enthusiasts love the dolphins playing in the surf, and people of all ages love the terrific leisure and recreational activities available here. There is a variety of restaurants located near the beach, as well.
Sunflower Field at Amazing Grace Farms
This one is technically outside of Jacksonville, but it’s so incredible that I had to mention it. Amazing Grace Family Farms has a huge sunflower field in the spring and it is such a great place to take pictures. You can also bring scissors and cut the sunflowers that you want. It’s best to go early because there is usually a huge line and the good flowers go fast.
