Top Weekend Getaways in Georgia you need to know about

So, here we go:

1.) Atlanta

Atlanta is the capital of Georgia and one of the most beautiful cities you will come across. On a single weekend, you may not be able to see everything, but here are some of the top attractions you should explore.

  • Centennial Park

  • Center of civil and human rights

  • World of Coca Cola

  • Atlanta Beltline

  • Botanical Garden

Whether you love to explore historic places or like to spend time in nature, these spots in Atlanta will surely help you relax and enjoy yourself alone or with your family.

2.) Helen

Located in the north of Georgia, Helen is a small mountain town that will make you feel like you have landed in Germany because of its tall Bavarian-style towers, cobblestone alleys, and wooden houses painted colorfully.

Helen has the same infrastructure as the mountain town in Europe. It is an appealing weekend destination because of its attractive architecture and natural attractions that allow you to relax your mind and body.

Anna Ruby 153 feet waterfall presents a gorgeous view you will never forget. Have a walk in the Black Forest Bear Park, where you can enjoy close interaction with rescued bears.

3.) Providence Canyons State Park

You cannot leave Georgia without visiting the State Park. Wear your hiking boots and get ready to explore the park, also famous as the Little Grand Canyon.

  • There are 150 feet large 9 gullies for hikers, which are 300 feet wide and deep.

  • The best gullies for hiking are a 2.5-mile loop which is easy and takes only 2 hours.

  • For experienced hikers, a 7-mile backcountry trail is the best option that will allow you to explore the steep-grade terrain while hiking across the river birch.

  • Beautiful geological layers present a marvelous scene because they have been eroding for the last 200 years due to poor farming practices done in the 1800s.

4.) Savannah

If you are a history or art lover, Savannah is the best destination for you in Georgia. It is the center of historic culture, art, architecture, and hospitality. You can quickly get immersed in the beautiful neighborhoods and cobblestone paths.

It is very easy to explore the city by taking a trolley, carriage, bike, or riverboat. You can explore many amazing locations and enjoy activities while in Savannah. Some of the best options are.

  • Georgia Historical Society

  • Savannah Historic Districts

  • Victorian Historic Districts

  • Fort Pulaski National Monument

  • Bonaventure Cemetery

There are various amazing outdoor activities that you can enjoy while in Savannah, like golfing, kayaking, hiking, exploring art, or participating in various events and festivals. Do not forget to enjoy the nightlife of Savannah.

5.) Macon

Macon is listed on the National Register of Historic Places because of its beautiful houses and strong community. The historic preservation of Macon is remarkable because it seems like all historic buildings were constructed just recently.

While in Macon, you will come across the biggest collection of Antebellum churches that are in the south. The beautiful churches are centered around the building of old bricks. Macon is perfect if you want to explore architectural treasures. The streets are gorgeous, and while walking around, you can capture some of the most beautiful scenes which are hard to find elsewhere.

Macon is famous for its cultural gems and many museums. The biggest attraction of Macon is Ocmulgee National Monuments which consist of historic temples and an Italian Renaissance Revival mansion.
