It would be an absolute crime to not include Paris in this list, with it being one of the most popular and loved tourist destinations not only in Europe, but worldwide. While it can get busy with tourists, Paris being so central and popular means that you are usually able to get great budget deals for the weekend. Air France flights on Omio website, for instance, currently have some budget-friendly flight options.
Paris is a great weekend location due to the sheer amount of things to see and experience - there is no chance of getting bored. Admire the beautiful architecture from a quirky little cafe, full of mouth-watering French pastries and hot chocolate. Visit the infamous Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, The Louvre and many more attractions. Simply get lost in the most romantic city in the world.
Venice is another classic that is hard to miss in the list of best weekend getaways and it’s particularly great to visit during Spring, when the country is not too busy yet the weather is lovely. While Italy has plenty of amazing cities, Venice stands out with its unique canals and charm. Going on one of the boat tours is an absolute must, to see the city and its stunning architecture from a whole new perspective. Let’s not forget the delicious Italian cuisine and local coffee that has become a classic around the globe.. Yes - you cannot go wrong with Venice.
Budapest is a brilliant city-break destination in any season, but during the Spring and Summer time the country is brimming with sunshine and activities. Another great thing about Hungary is how affordable it is and so you can spend more on local activities. There are so many impressive sights to see, experiences to engage with and unique local bars to visit. So, it may be a good idea to plan your trip in Budapest and decide exactly what you want to see in advance! Make sure to look out for the infamous local festivals and carnivals too, if you are planning your trip in the Summer!
Edinburgh is a slightly different location compared to the others - it’s a lot more likely to be rainy and misty during your visit. However, that doesn’t take away from just how stunning it is. The buildings and castles across the town are well-preserved with their grandness and magnificence of the architecture. Edinburgh is also home to many great bars and restaurants, which will not disappoint with their friendly atmosphere. If you have a free day, it is also highly recommended to visit the incredible Scottish Highlands. The only downside to visiting Edinburgh is having to leave at the end of it!
