Booking Your Vacation with a VPN

Are you planning a vacation? Do you want to save money when doing so? Now you can! Booking flights can be costly, especially to particular destinations during peak travel seasons. If spending more on your vacation than on the costs to get there sounds like your style, keep reading to find out how to book your vacation without breaking the bank, and while using a reputable VPN.

What is a VPN & Why Use One for Booking a Flight?

Using a VPN will allow for a secure connection between your IP address and that of the internet, with your data & IP address being confidential and misconfigured, so your identity and location are only where you allow it to be.

Using a VPN for booking purposes, like booking a flight, allows you to misconfigure your IP address, and place your location wherever you'd like, to reap the benefits of flight costs configured for that location. For example, say, you want to book a vacation to Mexico, you may want to set your VPN server location to Mexico because you can get cheaper flight options if there is a lower demand for flights in that country than say, in the Netherlands. In short, flight costs come with different price tags depending on the country where it's purchased. By using a VPN, you bypass country location restrictions to obtain the cheapest flights possible.

Choose your VPN Service

Before you make any booking arrangements, you need to choose a VPN service that is reputable and relatively low-cost. One of the most highly-rated, low-cost VPN service providers out there is SurfShark. Surf Shark allows you to connect multiple devices to their VPN, offers over 100+ server countries, and contains an ad blocker, bypasser, 24/7 support, and highly advanced technology to ensure your connection process is as seamless and secure as can be. The best part is, if you are not happy with your service within 30 days, you can opt to get a refund.

Buying a 2-year plan with SurfShark's VPN services will only cost you $2.49 a month. If you don't foresee yourself needing to use the service for that long, though, you can pay a monthly subscription price of $12.95, and cancel your subscription whenever you wish.

Still wondering  what can VPN do for you? Look no further!

After Choosing Your VPN Service

After choosing and paying for your VPN service, you will then need to connect it before beginning your booking process. To do so, simply download the VPN service, register your account, and viola! Your VPN service may automatically connect, or you may manually have to connect it following the instructions listed on the download page (usually appearing in the bottom right or top right corner of your screen). You will then need to select the country in which you want your VPN service to place you. Once setting this information, connect, and start browsing flights.

Generally, the cheapest countries to book flights from VPN are Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Australia, and a few other countries.

A Few Tips:

To make your chances of scoring cheap flight prices as likely as possible be sure to:

  • Clear your browser cookies and/or go into incognito mode. This improves your chances of websites gaining access to your browser history and adjusting prices based on your search queries.

  • Check adjustments for currency changes. If you are using a VPN for a specific country, the booking website will likely display the flight costs in that currency. You can typically alter this on the website, but also be sure to manually convert the currency using Google's currency converter if you want to be sure of what you would be paying in your local currency.

  • Check if any VPN restrictions are in place. Some booking websites are aware of utilizing VPN services and therefore can block or restrict your access to use them. If you encounter such issues, try using a different VPN server location or reach out to the VPN customer support team to rectify the situation.

  • Check flight prices from different countries by connecting to different server locations. In doing so, you can compare cost flight searches & booking prices and choose the most affordable one.

  • Be aware of differences in time zones amidst booking a flight. If you are booking in a country with a different time zone than that of where you live or are departing from be sure to convert the time so you can see what the departure/arrival time will be where you are.

  • Be sure that your VPN is still active during the payment stage. Sometimes VPNs can go offline if a page or your computer is not being used for some time. Upon getting ready to pay for your fights, check to be sure that the VPN is active by simply clicking on the app or icon in the top right or bottom corner of your screen.

And finally, happy traveling!
