8 Top Beach Packing List Items for 2020

What do you pack for the beach? There are obvious items like clothes, identification and money, but you shouldn't forget about other products that can make your time even more fun. From coolers to games to bodyboards, be sure these items are on your packing list. Here are eight necessary objects for your vacation:

1. COVID-19 Gear

Remember COVID-19 risks as you travel. You may intend to avoid crowded areas and eat takeout food, but it's still wise to pack specific gear. You'll keep yourself and others safe. You can pack a kit or compartment in your suitcase with your supplies. Here's what you should bring to combat COVID-19:

  • Reusable and single-use face masks
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Disinfectant wipes
  • Plastic cleaning gloves
  • Cleaning supplies

You shouldn't expect your lodging to have specifically approved cleaning supplies to combat COVID-19, so it's best to prepare.

2. A Portable Cooler

A portable cooler should be a top priority. You don't want to have to walk back and forth from your hotel or house to grab fresh drinks. A standard cooler with handles can be a solid pick, but you may benefit from one you can carry. Consider your group's size and needs to choose a great fit. There are even options with rubber tires to make your trip easier.

3. Sunglasses, Sunscreen and Extras

You can't forget your protective items, either. The sun can cause sunburn, heatstroke and other problems. As a result, you need to pack belongings like:

  • Sunglasses
  • Hats
  • Sunscreen
  • Lip balm with SPF
  • A first-aid kit

Look for sunscreens with both UVA and UVB qualities for added safety. Be sure to pack extra sunglasses and hats so you have them ready for everyone.

4. Life Jackets and Swimming Gear

If you plan to ride a boat or jet skis, you need to have life jackets on hand. The same idea applies to floaties if you have small children who can't swim. Be sure to take other fun objects like bodyboards, shovels, buckets and other beach gear that everyone can use to play in the water. These items will ensure everyone can enjoy their time in the ocean with no risk of getting hurt.

5. An Umbrella and Chairs

You need somewhere to sit, right? It's best to pack your own umbrella and chairs so you don't have to rent them. Plus, you can use this set for future vacations. It doesn't hurt to splurge on particularly nice chairs if you head to the beach often. You can easily find affordable, comfortable picks that your whole family will enjoy when they need to take a rest from the water.

6. A Beach Cart

You need to carry your cooler, umbrella, chairs, games and more. A beach cart makes that simpler. You can quickly pack your gear inside it for easy transportation. If you have small children, you can even give them a ride if you choose a wider wagon with seats. In any case, your beach vacation will be more organized and stress-free. This tool works perfectly for future beach vacations, too.

7. Waterproof Bags for Electronics

It's smart to keep your electronics protected when you're near water. A cell phone or tablet can become damaged fast if you don't take proper care of it. Take a waterproof bag on your trip so everyone's devices stay safe. Some even feature lanyards so you can drape them around your neck and ensure they don't get misplaced. Either way, you'll benefit from these bags if you plan to bring any electronics with you.

8. Games and Activities

The beach itself will always be fun, but you can make your experience even more enjoyable with games and activities. There are many outdoor games for kids and adults you can buy to keep your beach day interesting. You can also bring books, music and other stuff to ensure everyone stays entertained. A football or Frisbee can do the trick, too. Keep these items in your beach bag for easy access.

Pack These Products to Complete Your Beach Trip

Your beach excursion won't be complete without these items. They'll make your vacation more manageable, organized, safe and altogether fun.
