What Are The Things To Do In Fort Walton Beach?

A Guest Post By Sujain Thomas

Fort Walton Beach is on the West Coast of Florida, at a distance of 640 miles from Miami. The beach is a hub for multiple activities. You can visit with your family or friends and kids and make the trip fun-filled and educational as well. Here are a few things that you can do in Walton Beach.

1. Emerald Coast Science Center

Based mostly on the Memorial Parkway, this science center is an ideal place for adults and kids. Here you will come across the exhibits, including the engineering, robotics, and rainbow glasses, which will help you know how colors get formed. Additionally, the Emerald Coast Science Center is known for its varied talks. Some volunteers and experts are interested in donating their time to assist people in seeing the various animal species present in the world.

2. Camp Walton Schoolhouse Museum

When you walk into the Camo Walton Schoolhouse Museum, you will get to see the history of schooling in entire Florida. This building got initially used as a school between 1911 and 1912 and till 1936. A replica inside shows the visitors what it was like in those days to attend a school. You get to see the early 20th century desks and model classroom. It is interesting to note that Camp Walton used to be a neighborhood during the military and got designed to educate the soldier's children. Once the school got closed, the building had its long history as well. Currently, it belongs to a Heritage Park and is very close to Indian Temple Mound Museum.

3. Jetski

If you love water sports, you could opt-in for jet ski rentals. It is one of the most famous things to do in Fort Walton Beach. It will help you to relax and also get your dose of adrenaline rush. You can check out the rentals, take the necessary training, and opt-in for the jet ski. You can participate in it with your friends and family and enjoy a good time engaging in a pleasant water sport.

4. Liza Jackson Park

It is located close to Miracle Strip Parkway and comes with scenic picnic spots. If you have a dog, you can also go out for a stroll here. It is close to the beach and is also opposite to Gulf Island National Seashore. Here you will find ample car parking slots. It means you can get your wheels and not worry about parking space.

You will also find a fishing pier and a place where you can launch the boat should you want to venture into the water. However, you need to pay a fee for that. You have the option to swim in the water. But be a little careful as there are no lifeguards. If you have your kids with you, they will enjoy the area to get a chance to play. Whether you want to visit with your family or want to take a stroll in the park by yourself, this place is a great site to visit. These are a few exciting and enjoyable things you might do when you are at Fort Walton Beach.
