Studio Uccello

Studio Uccello is a small business run by Somerset knitwear and textile designer Lyn Holland.

Her designs for scarves, hats and gloves are the result of a lifetime spent working with textiles and yarns and are hand made locally with utmost care. In the past Lyn has designed and sold to prestigeous stores including Bloomingdales and Saks in the USA and more locally to Mulberry here in Somerset.

The company name 'Studio Uccello' was inspired by the colourfully decorative paintings of the 15th century Italian artist Paolo di Dono, nicknamed Uccello due to his love of birds (note: 'uccello' is Italian for bird). All the work from Studio Uccello carries a bird charm.

Lyn is passionate about the colour and texture of yarns and fibres; she combines techniques such as knitting and nuno felting to achieve designs that are highly individual yet very wearable.

The yarns used by Studio Uccello are 100% natural and most are hand dyed. Whenever possible they are sourced from the UK; for example the beautiful soft kid mohair used in the current winter designs comes from a small farm breeding angora goats in Wales. The unbrushed yarn has been dyed by hand which gives a subtle depth and range of colour.

Each of Studio Uccello's beautiful and unique designs would make a treasured gift or why not just treat yourself?
