Kristina Charrington
Kristina Charrington set up her business in the 1980’s having trained at the Gemmological Institute of America in New York. She was inspired to create real jewellery for friends and clients that was sensibly priced and wearable rather than ‘The Crown Jewels’ that are unsuitable to take on holidays and wear casually.
She uses semi-precious stones and her favourite stone is Lolite, a lilac blue stone a little similar to Tanzanite or White Topaz, which is colourless and a useful alternative to diamonds. Kristina is not a fan of buying in expensive diamonds but will suggest to clients that they use them from unworn existing pieces.
She designs from her office in Gloucestershire and her pieces are mostly made in the UK. Her two main workshops are in Newcastle for the ‘Signature Range’ and London for repairs and the bespoke, ‘high end’ pieces.
Kristina’s jewellery has been described as ‘contemporary without alarming traditionalists’ while she herself stresses that she specialises in attention to detail and making each client feel that they are unique.
