Jacaranda

I started beading in 2007, close to Christmas time.  I actually started it to save money on Christmas gifts  (this owing to the fact that I was still a newlywed:) ).  As it turned out, I really enjoyed it, and my creative juices started flowing.  I was hooked.  When we moved to the UK from South Africa in 2008, I had to bring my collection with me... all 15kgs of it!  Since then, my bead collection has grown to well over 20kgs (will need a new house soon).

I enjoy making all sorts of earrings, necklaces, bracelets etc.  I especially love working with glass pearls, because they look so glamorous and come in a beautiful array of colours.  I also started making beaded cutlery - teaspoons, salad servers, cake forks, cake servers...  This is my real treasure.  I love the way it 'pretties' up plain cutlery.  Everytime I bead a teaspoon, or server it makes me think of home - South Africa.  So each one is a treat for me to do!
