Lucy Gaiger has dressed many of the world’s greatest actors during her career as a costume designer. Her job has taken her from dressing legends such as Helen Mirren on the film “The Madness of King George” to Nicole Kidman in the Donmar’s “The Blue Room”. She wrapped Catherine Tate in yards of Taffeta for an 80’s inspired wedding dress in the stage version of Much Ado About Nothing and created multiple costume designs for one of Sarah Brightman’s recent tours, having previously worked with her on Phantom of the Opera. She is one of the original team on the global smash hit musical Mamma Mia! and has travelled the globe with the show bringing flippers, wedding dresses and dungarees to 50 million Abba fans around the world. In the quiet moments while away from her family on tour Lucy would make outfits for her children, including a replica of the “Wendy” nightdress in her daughter’s favourite book “Peter Pan”. She has always harboured a desire to direct her experience and passion for costume design into a clothing business. In 2012 Atticus & Gilda was born.
Conchita-Maria Scott started her career as a stylist for fashion magazines, including ID, Brides and Cosmopolitan. She bonded with Lucy while pinning the “Phantom” into his cape for Phantom of the Opera and has many years experience styling the great and the good of theatre and film. Alongside her costume design, she has had her own millinery business, producing headwear for musicals such as the Lion King as well as for private commissions. Conchita spent three years working for Sam Mendes during his tenure at the Donmar Warehouse. Involved in inspiring plays, starring actors such as; Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth, William H Macy, Ray Winstone and Dougray Scott. She has worked on Mamma Mia! since 2002 and it has taken her around the world styling, designing, buying and sourcing. Conchita’s ability to spot an interesting fabric or item of clothing in the most obscure of places has required her to always take a separate suitcase on family holidays. Alongside her theatre work, she is now applying her love of design and creating to Atticus & Gilda.
