Product Description

Traditionally handmade lacquer bowl with outer bamboo. 19 x Height 8 cm.  Each piece can take up to 8 months to make. Unusual and ideal for serving knick knacks. Made from coiled bamboo, glued with rice glue and then layered 10 times with lacquer (a natural sap)

Lacquer ware was traditionally used for table ware in many parts of S.E. Asia before crockery and plastic came along.  Hot food can be served in the bowls but after some time, due to wear and tear, the lacquer may crack.  If this occurs, the bowls can be recycled as pots for household plants!  Being made from organic materials, plants tend to flourish.

Lacquer ware is NOT dishwasher proof.
